Consulting Perimenopausal Patients Experiencing Intimate Partner Violence: A Trauma Informed Approach
Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a common but often unrecognized contributor to symptoms such as insomnia, anxiety, chronic pain, fatigue, cognitive changes, and worsening menopausal symptoms. Many women experiencing coercive control or psychological abuse present repeatedly in healthcare settings long before abuse is disclosed.
This CME/CE course explores the impact of intimate partner violence on perimenopausal and midlife health, helping clinicians recognize clinical red flags, understand the dynamics of power and control, and respond using trauma informed approaches. Participants will learn practical strategies for screening, assessment, documentation, safety planning, and referral while supporting patient autonomy and safety.
