Health Equity in Perimenopause Care for Prescribers

In this course, Dr. Bayo Curry-Winchell guides prescribers through the intersections of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and perimenopausal experiences. You’ll explore how social determinants of health, systemic bias, and access barriers shape symptom presentation and treatment outcomes, and learn strategies to provide equitable, culturally responsive care for all patients.

After this course, you will be able to:

  • Analyze the complex intersections between race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and perimenopausal experiences, recognizing how social determinants of health contribute to disparities in symptom presentation and treatment outcomes.

  • Evaluate the multifaceted barriers to healthcare access affecting perimenopausal women from diverse backgrounds—including insurance coverage, geographic location, language barriers, and digital literacy—to develop targeted solutions for your practice.

  • Identify patterns of medical bias and symptom dismissal that disproportionately affect marginalized populations during perimenopause, and implement strategies to provide more equitable, culturally responsive care.

  • Design patient-centered communication approaches that empower women from diverse backgrounds, incorporating trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and shared decision-making to improve health outcomes.

Learning Format: Video-based instruction, case discussions, and downloadable resources.
