Plan of Care for
Pain with Sex in Perimenopause:
A Multidisciplinary Approach for Allied Health Professionals

This accredited webinar explores pain with sex in perimenopause through a multidisciplinary lens, bringing together pelvic physical therapy, reproductive psychiatry, and sex therapy. Using real-world case studies, faculty examine how pelvic floor dysfunction, musculoskeletal factors, hormonal tissue changes, anxiety, trauma history, and relationship dynamics can contribute to sexual pain and avoidance.

The discussion emphasizes trauma-informed care, patient autonomy, and clear communication around pelvic exams and treatment options. Learners gain practical strategies for assessing sexual pain, avoiding medical dismissal, and supporting intimacy while treatment is underway. The session highlights the importance of coordinated, team-based care to improve sexual health and overall well-being in midlife women.
